Cleaning out Oil Lines

Nobody 04-19-2006, 5:33 PM
Through a stroke of pure luck I recently found an Oil Cooler, Accusump and Fire System all out of an S2000....for about 1/3 the price of all the combined parts/SS lines new.

I should have known it was too good to be true.  The hairy hands of fate discharged the fire system en route, destroying the box and contaminating the insides of all the oil lines/accusump and oil cooler which were NOT capped prior to shipping!

Can anyone recommend a good way to flush the foam detergents/contaminants out of all of the above?   Is there a shop anywhere around the Bay Area that would be able to pump gallons of nasty cleaner/degreaser through it all?

Please do not quote me here!

I would NOT run any solvent thru the accusump. I think there are o-rings inside that may become damaged. Flush with thin oil, maybe 10wt. this will require some pressure. There is a piston inside the tube that will be all the way to the end where the inlet hole is. This meens there should not be very much contamination inside. If the air on the back side of the piston has been let out the piston might be short of the open end? The oil lines can be flushed with gas or any type of solvent. The oil cooler can be flushed with gas or solvent also. Be sure to then flush the solvent with clean oil befor intalling in your car. You might want to then start the motor run just a few miniutes, drain the accusump and change your motor oil. Oil is cheep, repeat oil flush.

FYI, Whith the accusump empty you should add 55 lbs of air, then bleed down to 7 psi  on the back side of the sump. There should be a pressure guage mounted.

Good luck,

Thanks, Dan.  I'm thinking maybe of disassembling the lines and dropping them into a gas bath....not sure where I could do this...and other than lighting a massive bonfire , not sure how to dispose of the results, but it looks to be the only way to clean all this stuff up.  Ugh.
