Update from their website http://www.rmpracing.com/index.htm

STATEMENT REGARDING LEGAL CHALLENGES (January 23, 2007)
The Environmental Impact Report for Riverside Motorsports Park was approved and certified by the Merced County Board of Supervisors in December 2006. Since that time, two legal challenges were filed during the 30-day period provided by the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA Law). The challenges seek additional mitigation to the impact(s) identified. Riverside Motorsports Park's CEQA attorneys and Environmental Consultants fully support the integrity and accuracy of the research and analysis documented in the 10,000+ pages of the EIR, and Riverside Motorsports Park remains confident in the strength of its findings.

Yeah, a 10K page report, what a bunch of garbage!

Thanks for the up-date. Can't wait for that track!

Before it's all done, they will find some migrating bird that beds down for the night while enroute to the Monterey track. I thought we shipped all our environmentalist to Oregon. Believe me, those birds will find a place to roost!!!!!!!!

Mike,
We have plenty of nuts up here don't send any more, we can't even harvest dead trees from forest fires.
How about 90 or 92 db at Laguna Seca?

Hey Mike, don't be so negative, that's my job !!  I predicted 12-18 months ago, they wouldn't turn dirt before..... I forget, but probably 09 and the opening day would be in 2011.  Could happen a little quicker depending on what the requested mitigation is and how deep their pockets are.

A 10,000 page EIR is kinda on the short side for a1200 acre site and the county wide impacts both good and bad.

Anyway, since I'm not a young man like you and Siro, I ain't holding my breath.  Sleep [|-)]

Siro, I know, terrible deal about those burned trees. Years ago my friend moved to Or and bought 40 ac in Lane Co. Said he was going to build a new house on the hill. Well he got on his bulldozer and started making a pad when some guy drove up and said, "what are you doing? " Frank said "I going to build a house here" The guy took off and returned with a Deputy Sheriff and a court order stating some bird stays over night there in those trees while enroute to the coast. Several yrs when by and the house plans. I lost track now, don't know the end of the story. He is west of Cottage Grove.

Portland is a nice area. MRI showed torn bicep tendons on both arms, good news, better than rotator cuff surgery(s). These enviro laws can be real funny. I remember back in the 60's they would put oil wells in the foot hills of western Kern County and the Kit Foxes would live under the line houses or any buildings on the oil fields and be real happy from all the workers feeding them. Today you would be lucky to put a road in. Those spotted owls, salamanders, mice, birds, ants, frogs and mountain lion will find a way. Took us years to get rid of Griz and now they want to reinterduce them. Why.....to eat us! Same with Wolves, finally got rid of them and now they came back to eat our livestock for dinner.  Reminds me of the Vietnamese emigrant in Kern Co that saved his money and bought 40 acreas of desert to plant vegs to sell. The poor guy bought a new Ford tractor and disc and was discing his land when some evirironmentalist came out of the sky........ and found out he had cut up some endanged mouse, ONE. This little deal cost the man his farm, tractor and some jail time. They took the tractor/disc for "fruits of the crime", he sold his farm to pay the fine and bail. What a bunch of bull! We couldn't believe it. So about 1 yr later another guy got arrested for the same thing west of Fresno. These cute little white chested mice running around are dangerous!
