Another wonderful track day

NCRC, thanks for the wonderful day. I'll get this new old 250 HP car sorted out soon and stop holding up the open group's traffic. I had some problems, but old-new things always do I guess. However, I had a ball again! Sure miss the HP tho, but as we speak I'm working on that...........alum heads, etc. Ken has 505 HP in that awesome new Z06 (GT2..huh?) Vette, what a street tire deal that is!

Ken spoke with me later in the day and suggested that he get bumped up to GT1.

Tam also said that he and his Evo sould be up in GT2.

Cool guys Yes [Y]

I'll change the results to reflect that.

Mike-

It was great to see you at the Track. Yes-the horsepower makes for lots of speed especially on the main straight. I was gaining speed so fast that the heads up display was skipping numbers all the way up to 140 mph!

I think everyone would agree that no Evo is a GT3!  Bone stock Evos have a HP:LB ratio that put it in the GT-2 class and all it takes is a chip and exhaust to put an Evo into GT1 (http://www.ncracing.org/tt/car-classing.html).  Course, it takes more than a chip and an exhaust on an Evo to outrun a spec Miata....Tam's got a Miata, too, so maybe that won't be an issue.  Wink [;)]

Ah, your 2005 Evo maybe, but remember 2003 Evos are rated at only 271 bhp. The weight/power (3263/271) squeaks in to GT3 at 12.04. Granted the "271 bhp" is probably a bit of a soft rating since in bone-stock form it dynos about the same as a "300 bhp" Subaru STi. Splitting hairs aside, yes, the Evo should probably start out in GT2.

My "stock" (as defined by SCCA Solo2 rules) street-tire Miata is in GT4 and is probably an underdog even for that class, so I'd be hard-pressed to run for GT1 points in it.

LOL!

Yeah, good point on the early Evos.  As opposed to other classification systems, I think the NCRC/ARC one is pretty spot on.  Though no one would argue that a Stock S2000 is one full class ahead of a stock Evo.  I mean we all know S2000s are better than Evos, but perhaps not by one full class.  Nudge nudge wink wink!  Big Smile [:D]  NCRC members, as far as I know, have all been really fair about reclassifications as well, so it's not that big of an issue.   When I've looked at the rules for other associations I cringe just trying to determine how either of my cars will be classed--and more often than not most rules favor minimal mods....definintely not for me!
