25 hr race

I attended my second 25 hrs and was very impressed again. They parked all 63 starters on the track for display, what a walk that was. We then walked back and enjoyed all the pits, people from all over. Then the most acrobatic display in an aircraft I've ever seen performed for at least 15-20 minutes. Everyone said he was the best in the world. What a show! Then we started walking back down the hot pits when someone yelled, I looked and 3 jet fighters were about 150-200 feet off the deck heading right for us. We would have been had, no noise. They then flew by and I didn't get my ears covered in time when three after burners went off. Then the USAF marching colors with bag pipes playing and then National Anthem was stung live. They then said "start your engines" and 63 cars roared. Then they did a parade lap and on the way back around they came thru the hot pits single file. They then did a warm up lap before getting the green. Somewhere around 700+ laps its over the next day. What a race!

Yeah, very cool event.  I went there late Saturday afternoon and watched the race transition into night.  My wife and I stood over by turn 14 at the end of the backstretch and you could see the front rotors glowing on some of the cars as they slowed for the tight turn.  The pit area was constant activity, either with car maintenance or just people having a good time socializing.  Weather was great too, no rain and not too cold.
