ARC Driver Certification
The ARC requires a certification, prior to allowing registration for a race
event. We do not require a racing license, nor does a race license from another
sanctioning body guarantee an ARC certificate. Racing with ARC is unique enough
from other events that we feel it's relevant to define and certify folks
independently. The intention is to support clean racing, no
"attitude", closer to Vintage rules than not, as well as track awareness and
experience, is what we're certifying. This process is lighter weight than
other licensing processes, but no less thorough.
Certification can be accomplished in two ways:
1) If you are referred by a known (to us), legitimate racer who will vouch
for you and your driving style, complete the
ARC New Member Registration
process and note the name of the reference where relevant.
or,
2) If you don't have a reference in the area, or are new to racing, complete
the ARC New Member Registration
process and
provide a resume of your driving history, with full disclosure of incidents and
suspensions. You must then attend an NCRC event to receive a certification
checkout. All NCRC events will provide such checkouts - please note the request
for certification on the NCRC Event Registration form. The schedule of these events is on the
NCRC
web site. Failure to provide full
disclosure of your racing/driving history can result in immediate denial of
certification.
Please note that only on ARC or NCRC membership payment is required, so while
we need additional information on the membership form for ARC, you do not need
to make an additional membership dues payment if you're already an NCRC member.
You will also be asked to provide a
medical exam form from your physician. A medical exam is required
every 5 years if you're age 16 to 39 years old. Every 2 years if you are from
40 to 64 years old, and every year if you are above 65 years old.
If you have a
valid racing license from a large sanctioning body which requires a medical
exam, like the SCCA or NASA, the requirement for a medical certification is
waived. |
